Team Spotlight with Colin Kiernan

Newsroom

Colin Kiernan is a Senior Interviewer on our Insite Team and has been with KS&R since 2004. He graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a degree in History and from SUNY Oswego with a degree in Information Science.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the KS&R team?

Treating each and every potential and current client with the same respect as I would like to be treated.

How did you end up at KS&R?

In 2004, I was one course away from a BA in Information Science and was looking for a job in the IT field. I started at KS&R that year part-time thinking it would be a short-term position. Four years later I finally completed that one course, got the degree, and was still at KS&R. It’s 2022 and I’m glad I stayed!

What advice would you give to yourself at age 15?

My advice is really just a set of words: Your experience will require courage, ultimately faith, the ability to trust yourself and others – and to start all over if everything falls apart. Good luck and call me when you’re in a pinch!

What are you most grateful for in this moment?

My best friend, Stella.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Atlantic City, NJ, the Summer of 1965. The busy boardwalk, the penny and nickel arcades, the sound of the ice cream man on the beach yelling, “Ice Cream! Come and get your ice cream!” as a transistor radio played Lesley Gore’s song, ‘Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows’.

Aside from necessities, what is one thing you could not go a day without?

Admiring the twelve thuja plicata (aka ‘Green Giants’) I planted in my backyard last year. They are gorgeous, stately, and growing about 2 – 3 feet per year.

What is the best/worst purchase you’ve ever made?

The worst purchase I ever made was my first car – a 1972 Maverick. The best is the house Stella and I bought in 2005.
