#KSRCrew Spotlight with Jamie Favata

This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the dads of KS&R – like Jamie Favata, a Data Associate on our DS&I team. Discover his proudest accomplishment and what brings him the greatest joy in this Q&A.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the KS&R team?
I love the constant opportunity to solve new and challenging problems. My job can be a lot like putting a puzzle together, the challenge ensures that no two days are alike. I also enjoy working alongside extremely talented co-workers who are tackling similar problems and love collaborating with them.
How did you end up at KS&R?
I was aware of KS&R when I was in college because my older sister started working for the company. The company she described to me sounded like a really great place to work but the job she performed wasn’t at the top of my list. I was moving back to the Syracuse area in 2006, looking for work, and heard about an opening position as a supervisor at the INSITE call center which was closer to the work I was interested in. While working at INSITE, I became exposed to the software side of the job and loved working in that environment. An opportunity opened up to work on the DS&I team and I have been in the department since accepting the position in 2009.
What brings you great joy in your life?
Giving my time to CNY Adaptive Sports, a Syracuse based non-profit that provides access and sporting equipment to disabled athletes that have physical limitations which prevent them from being able to play traditional sports.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Being a father to my two sons, they are at the age where they are venturing out into the world on their own and show all signs that they will successfully navigate it. It’s very gratifying to be such a huge influence in their lives and now I get to watch them chase their dreams. Hopefully the reward of grandchildren to spoil is in the cards one day.
If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation. I love traveling to places I’ve never been but hate the time it takes to get there, airports, and not sleeping in my own bed.
Aside from necessities, what is one thing you could not go a day without?
Coffee. The entire routine of brewing and drinking a cup is my motivation to get out of bed and start the day.
If you could share a meal with any individuals, living or dead, who would they be?
Ben Franklin and Mark Twain; both have unique and humorous views on life and human nature, I’m sure lots of wisdom and laughs would be shared.
